'Around the World via Gainsborough' book available to pre-order now

My first photographic book 'Around the World via Gainsborough' is nearly ready. The 118 page self published book will be launched at Marshall's Yard in Gainsborough on September 24th 2008. The book contains 109 pictures from my last 18-months work, including pictures from trips to Iceland, Beijing, Madrid, Valencia and Hong Kong. The book will also contain a lot of pictures from my home town of Gainsborough. In the pictures I wanted to convey how the average street differs from one country to the next, with strong emphasis on shapes, colour, texture, and the often seen humour of everyday life - hopefully something very different to the work you have viewed before.
You can pre-order the book now through my website and will be posted to you on September 24th.

'Around the world via Gainsborough'. Yes, starting in the universally recognised centre of the universe (or the small Lincolnshire town of Gainsborough to you and me), this photographic Phileas Fogg attempts to emulate this famous character but with just 80 clicks of the shutter. Visiting diverse destinations such as Amsterdam, Madrid, Hong Kong and Beijing, travel photographer Chris Etchells visually explores the street scenes, people and culture of the world. His style puts a strong emphasis on the shapes, texture, graffiti and colour of the streets he encounters. Despite all the sites of the world he uncovers, no place has a fonder place in his heart than Gainsborough as this photographic love letter will testify.

Around the world via Gainsborough is perfect for the arm-chair traveller or itchy footed explorer alike.

You can pre-order the book now through my website for dispatch after September 24th 2008.
